Her artwork has received regional and national recognition through the Scholastic Awards and has been exhibited at The Met, MoMA, the High Line Gallery, and Pelham Art Center.
This portrait explores memory, dignity, and the quiet strength carried across generations. Working with an earth-toned palette, I wanted the texture and softened details to evoke an aged family photograph. The direct gaze invites the viewer to look beyond outward likeness and consider the inner life of the person portrayed. Through this work, I reflect on how personal histories are preserved in images, traditions, and the faces we remember. The painting is a tribute to the enduring presence of women whose stories continue to shape the generations that follow.
